Map styles & night map

Every style applies to the radar and the pause map at once. The map stays sharp at every zoom level.

The three styles

StyleWhat it looks like
Atlas (default)A clean road map: three greens for meadows, woods and forests in big smooth areas, a white city with grey buildings, sand on beaches and in the desert, blue-grey roads, the metro in red, relief shading on the hills and a two-tone water outline along the coast.
SatelliteReal-world colours as seen from the sky, with stronger relief.
NativeThe original GTA V colours. It keeps everything else: the places panel, addresses, street names, the pink GPS and Cayo Perico.
Players switch style at the bottom of the places panel. It changes right away, and their pick is saved for next time. You choose which styles are offered with Config.Themes.

Night map

From 8 pm to 6 am game time, the map goes dark. It follows the game clock, and the radar, the pause map and Cayo Perico switch together.

  • Atlas at night: night blues and teals, lighter blue roads, the same details as by day.
  • Satellite at night: a dark satellite view with roads in streetlight colours.
  • Native looks the same day and night, like the original map. The Day / night choice hides while it is picked.
Each player can pick Auto, Day or Night at the bottom of the places panel. Auto follows the hours; Day and Night stay put. The pick is saved.

Hours, the default mode and turning the night map off are in Config.Night.

Street and district names

Full street names are written along the roads (bigger on the freeways), and district names in capitals, like a real road map. They show on the radar as well.

A more complete map

Rockstar left Fort Zancudo and the prison almost blank. HZ-Map draws their buildings, runways and yards, along with other buildings the original map was missing.

Beyond the coast

Past the coastline, the sea is see-through on the pause map, so the game world shows behind it.

Cayo Perico

The island shows on the pause map, and on the radar when you get close, in the same style as the rest of the map. It is on by default.

  • To walk on the island you still need your usual Cayo Perico loader. HZ-Map only puts it on the map.
  • If you ran a script that only showed Cayo on the map, remove it: HZ-Map does the same thing, and with both running the island won't show at night.
  • To hide the island, see Configuration → Cayo Perico.
